Description
Ramadan 101 is a campus-wide training designed to help students, staff, and faculty understand the significance of Ramadan and how fasting can affect the academic and social experiences of Muslim students. Participants will gain insight into the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the month, while also learning how the Center for Muslim Life collaborates with campus partners including Deans, Duke Dining, faculty, residential staff, and study centers to support students observing the fast. This session offers practical tools and thoughtful guidance for creating a more responsive and inclusive learning environment during Ramadan.
Objectives
1. Introduce the religious and cultural significance of Ramadan and what fasting entails
2. Explore how fasting may impact students’ schedules, focus, physical energy, and participation
3. Equip participants with practical strategies and highlight campus partnerships that support students’ academic, dietary, and wellness needs during Ramadan
