A biannual roundtable that the Duke History Union hosts with humanities professors, focusing on a contemporary topic, inviting students to learn more and ask questions. The topic for this roundtable is on histories of U.S. imperialism or empire/borders more broadly. Is America an imperial power today? Was it one in the past? These are pressing questions, for historians and for all of us. Come and join three distinguished faculty from the Department of History to engage with students around these issues. We will have specialists in Indigenous History, Latin American history, and military history. Each will give brief remarks, devoting plenty of time for Q&A with students. Dinner will be served!
