As election season approaches, student organizations may be considering debates, candidate appearances, panel discussions, voter engagement initiatives, campaign-related programming, or other political events. Join campus partners for an interactive Lunch & Learn designed to help student organization leaders understand the planning process, campus expectations, available resources, and key considerations for hosting successful political events at Duke.
This session will cover event registration requirements, planning timelines, working appropriately with campaigns or campaign representatives, hosting candidates and other high-profile guests, venue and logistics planning, safety and security considerations, media and ticketing needs, potential funding opportunities for student organization-centered events, and best practices for election-season programming.

Student organizations will also learn about expectations for events connected to outside organizations, including the importance of ensuring that student organizations are genuinely leading student-centered programming and are not serving as a front, sponsor, or host on behalf of an external group.

Lunch will be provided. Bring your questions, early-stage ideas, or developing event plans — the earlier you connect with campus partners, the more support we can provide throughout the planning process.
