Who We are

The mission of DUSON Spectrum is to assist the Duke University School of Nursing in meeting its goals addressed in the DUSON Mission Statement. This organization is committed to the advancement of the health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other individuals of minority status through the practice of nursing advocacy. DUSON Spectrum will be engaged with the development of its members into socially aware, active, and responsible Duke citizens whose nursing practice they will perform and protect with pride.

Our Purpose & Mission

DUSON Spectrum is a non-profit nursing organization dedicated to the individual and collective professional and personal growth of its members. Our organization aims:

1. To promote advocacy within the Duke community of issues pertinent to nursing and the overall health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other minority groups.

2. To provide a venue sensitive to the need for diversity and acceptance within nursing.

3. To foster an environment of inclusiveness and nondiscrimination within DUSON.
