About Us

DuRM stives to provide local middle schools with free robotics lesson aimed to enrich passion and spark an interest in STEM. We teach middle school students an introduction to coding which builds on each past lesson and expose students to fun interactive actives using line following robots. We work closely with the Durham public schools to provide aftercare lessons through the Durham Encore program.

Members Benefits

1. We aim to inspire local middle schoolers to be passionate about learning and give them early exposure to STEM ideas. 2. We aim to provide a platform for students to practice pedagogical leadership and gain teaching experience. 3. We aim to organize an end of year trip for local middle school students to come tour Duke and participate in a robotics challenge on campus. Duke affiliation helps as we are able to have Duke students be our student leaders for our program. This ensures we have a talented group of teachers for our lessons. Furthermore, many of our middle school students have heard of Duke but don't know much about it or have ever been to campus. Being part ofDuke allows us to give them a tour of the school at the end of the year and inspire them to have a goal to work towards during their many future years of education
