For our general body meeting will have Bill Raynor, the Associate Superintendent of the Spacecraft Engineering division of the Naval Research Lab, present about past projects of the lab. These include the creation of vanguard 1 - the oldest manmade object currently in space, RSGS - the US’s first robotic arm satellite to repair satellites, the development of GPS, and the Clementine Lunar Orbiter, which in 1994 took 2 million images of the moon. Bill will also discuss testing systems (vibrational, acoustic, thermal vacuum, etc) needed for each satellite.
After, the Alumni Center will announce resources to connect with Duke alumni (great for finding internships) and IEEE will talk about our upcoming election process for VPs.
