About Us

Active Minds is established for the expressed purpose of: 1. Increasing the awareness of students, faculty, and staff at Duke regarding: -news and developments surrounding mental health and emotional wellbeing -signs and symptoms related to mental health and emotional wellbeing disorders and diseases -mental health and emotional wellbeing resources available on campus and in the local Durham community 2. Reducing stigma toward people living with mental illness such that students, faculty, staff, and all members of the local Durham community will feel more comfortable seeking mental and emotional help when recognized as needed and openly discussing mental health and emotional wellbeing related topics 3. Promoting a general awareness of comprehensive "self-health" by emphasizing techniques that care for the body, mind, and spirit 4. Providing students with easy access to information about Eating Disorders, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and other mental health and emotional wellbeing disorders and diseases
