Hi, friends of Planned Parenthood Generation Action!
It was so inspiring to meet many of you at yesterday’s club fair! We have a busy semester of reproductive rights activism and sexual/reproductive health education ahead of us. So, let's get started. We’re glad you’re here!
Join us for the first GBM of the year this Sunday, Sept. 6th in Classroom Building 137 on East Campus. We’ll introduce everyone to our calendar and vision for this year of community building! Then, we’ll play some reproductive health + rights trivia. Bring your A-game, and you might win some treats, merch, or a vibrator! 🤭

Tap into Duke GVEO, the Office for Gender Violence Education and Outreach. GVEO's info is made for all of us, even if we may not think we need it at the moment.
On this page, GVEO will guide you to the right resources depending on your needs, whether you are seeking immediate help after experiencing any form of gender-based violence, want to support a friend, or don't know what you need.
Seeking out and utilizing these resources can be scary, but you are not alone.

Let's be honest, our high school sex ed likely didn't cut it. Here's where you can go for sex ed that actually answers your questions.
- Here, GVEO provides guidance on healthy relationships, consent, and sexual wellness.
- For reproductive and sexual health resources tailored to our lives and access points at Duke, check out PPGA's Safe Sex 101 guide. @Class of 2030, it's a great place to start!
- Planned Parenthood is our go-to for sexual health answers, cutting through all the noise with the facts and zero judgement.
- Your old friend, Crash Course has a pretty iconic sexual health series that might teach you more than you anticipate. 🧐

What PPGA is reading, watching, and listening to these days...

Daisy Chain Fields, Olivia Rodrigo's unapologetically feminist (and abortion-positive) music festival prompted a joyful shift in our collective attitudes amidst a torrent of political and cultural forces designed to isolate and exhaust women. It demonstrated the power of a solidarity built on pure connection and fun! The bar has been set!
Read more about what the festival means for the movement in this piece by Jessica Valenti of Abortion, Every Day.

We'll share more about the festival's 10 nonprofit partners (including Planned Parenthood) and their work in advancing reproductive rights + justice! One particularly relevant to our discussions of policy is the Center for Reproductive Rights. Get to know the Center and their tools, maps, and legal actions.

You'll hear lots of Daisy Chain music at our GBMs. Here's a sneak peek...🌼🌼🌼

|
 | | Comedian (and abortion rights ally 🫶) John Oliver discusses the dangerous idea of fetal personhood, its legal applications, and the alarming trends of pregnancy criminalization in the Post-Dobbs era. |
|
 | Liberating Abortion is a fascinating, galvanizing book about the history of abortion that leaves you with a dream of reproductive justice finally realized. Then, it equips you with the tools to fight for this fundamentally just, yet radical dream.

Like our network of chapters across the country, PPGA at Duke is "inclusive of all genders, diverse backgrounds, and communities impacted by reproductive health injustices." We are a safe space where all who wish to support our mission are welcome and valued! If you're questioning whether this club is meant for you... don't! Join the party!
Peace, love, and reproductive rights 🫶
