The Culinary and Wine Appreciation Society is dedicated to providing education and appreciation for global food and wine, focusing on its cultural significance across diverse traditions. Through lectures, meetings and tastings, members will deepen their understanding of the history of wine, learning about food/wine pairings and improve blind tasting skills.

Our mission includes reframing students’ outlook on alcohol, through demonstrating that alcoholic drinks should be consumed safely, enjoyably, in moderation and for their flavor. This will be achieved by providing spittoons at tastings, allowing members to sample wines without consuming them and by exploring the flavor profiles of various wines.

For students under the age of 21 and non-drinkers, we will offer an alternative tasting experience using tools such as “Le Nez du Vin”, which replicate the flavors found in wines through scent, enabling participants to engage with the tasting process without consuming alcohol, as is practiced by sommeliers across the globe.

Additionally, the club aims to educate members about the world of wine and food through guest lectures from local food historians, restauranteurs, horticulturalists, vignerons and food producers. These talks will focus on the history of produce, its cultural significance, and how these elements influence cuisine and wine today. Tastings may accompany these sessions, helping members develop their palates and olfactory senses.

Also, the club aims to equip members with the confidence and skills to navigate professional events where drinking wine and dining are an integral part of the occasion.

DBA is unique in that it is both a university student government and a professional bar association. As such, DBA performs a variety of functions at the law school, including promoting the student body's academic and professional growth, providing opportunities to strengthen the social and intellectual community at the school, and representing the student body to the Law School, the legal profession, and the greater Durham community.

One of the DBA's most significant functions is overseeing the majority of Duke Law's student clubs and organizations. DBA provides assistance and funding to groups looking to hold events, from lunchtime talks to professional symposia. DBA also charters new student groups, to meet the changing needs and interests of the student body. The efforts of student groups are supplemented by DBA's own activities and programs, including athletic leagues, social events, and student fellowships.

DBA also functions as the liaison between students, faculty, and the administration. To that end, DBA sends student representatives to every major faculty committee at Duke Law, including the Admissions, Faculty Appointments, and Planning and Curriculum Committees. This ensures that students are central to all major decisions at Duke Law, from faculty hires to grading system changes. DBA also sends representatives to the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association, and to Duke's Graduate and Professional Student Council.

finance by teaching them some of the technical and leadership skills they need to succeed in

S&P 500. Any returns generated from the portfolio must be reinvested in the portfolio or be

This club seeks to compete in the College Fed Challenge (the “Challenge”) hosted by the Federal Reserve System in the fall. Throughout the year, the Organization will host training meetings on how the Federal Reserve operates, macroeconomics, and current American economic policy. Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) at Duke has three key objectives: student career development, community outreach, and leadership development. It is designed to partner with physician volunteers and community members by providing kidney screenings and health education, free of charge, to underserved populations.
