About Us
Our purpose is to emphasize the importance of freestyle as a form of non-verbal communication and cultural expression, and promote diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity by eliminating barriers to joining the club and encouraging creative expression without the constraints on styles or music. We aim to foster a vibrant community of dancers and aspiring dancers who embrace the art of freestyle. Our supportive environment will allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to express themselves through various street dance styles, including breakdancing, locking, popping, waacking, and more, while giving them the freedom to create and name their own styles. By reviving and promoting the essence of freestyle dance—an authentic expression of creativity and individuality at the heart of street dance culture—we actively welcome underrepresented communities, such as the LGBTQ+ community. We strive to create a space where individuals can showcase their unique styles, connect with others, and celebrate their identities through dance. Through this platform, we aspire to honor individual uniqueness and cultural heritage while nurturing a sense of belonging within the Duke community.
