First off, I hope your summer has been going well!ÔÇ» You have received this email because you are listed as an officers or advisor in a debating/forensics group. My name is Michael Croal andÔÇ»I'm anÔÇ»Assistant Director for Student Involvement and Leadership.

I am contacting you to give you vital information as it relates to theÔÇ»Joseph C. Wetherby Debate Society Fund.

ENDOWMENT PROPOSALS

• The deadline forÔÇ»FY24 proposalsÔÇ»for the JosephÔÇ»C.ÔÇ»WetherbyÔÇ»DebateÔÇ»Society FundÔÇ»is due by THURSDAY, AUGUST 10 (11:59 pm EST).
• If your organization needs an extension on the deadline, you must notify me via email BEFORE Wednesday, August 9.
• AÔÇ»fundingÔÇ»decisionÔÇ»from our office will be madeÔÇ»within 2 weeks
• Funds may be used to establish debating tournaments atÔÇ»Duke, provide trophies and prizes, coaching support, travel expenses and for administrative support.

As an added note, last year the endowment had some rollover funds from COVID that we were able to distribute out. This year we are back to purely spending the interest from the endowment (with no rollover). Please take this into consideration as we have 22% less to allocate out this year. While I say less, it’s what it has always been (except last year).
