The 2024-2025 academic year is underway, and you've already made it through August. Look at you go, you champion. This month's newsletter has information about student organization requirements, deadlines, and some funding opportunities. So, read on!
Be sure to add mailer@campusgroups.com to your safe sender list so you don't miss any important student organization updates.
Below are the requirements for all undergraduate and graduate/professional RSOs. Failure to fulfill these requirements will result in probation and potential suspension of recognition.
Complete the Annual Re-registration Form on Duke Groups
Participate in Social Host training (only if hosting an event involving alcohol)
Complete Finance Training (only Treasurers and Authorized Spenders)
Participate in a Student Affairs Inclusivity training (available spring 2025)
The Next Level Leadership Summit is the annual training required for all recognized student organizations. This training will cover important university policies and procedures such as events that involve minors or voter registration drives. RSOs must:
Send a student representative to the Leadership Summit on September 18 or 21, 2024
Check in with a DukeCard at the event
Complete the post-event survey for credit (deadline: May 11, 2025)
The Next Level Leadership Series is a set workshops, trainings, and development opportunities. These sessions, held weekly, are designed to help students grow in their capacity for leadership. All students are welcome to attend. RSOs must:
Send any student representative to the three (3) Series sessions during the 2024-2025 academic year
Check in with a DukeCard at the session
Complete the post-event survey for credit (deadline: May 11, 2025)
Any organization member is eligible to attend. This requirement does not have to completed solely by executive officers.
Student Organization Re-registration
The annual re-registration form is currently open and will close on September 15, 2024 at 11:59pm (US eastern). Annual re-registration is required for all student organizations that would like to remain recognized by the university. Groups that do not complete the re-registration form will have their university recognition suspended along with all recognition privileges.
To complete the annual re-registration form:
Click the red re-registration banner on the Duke Groups homepage
Find the group you want to re-register
Click the blue re-register button (only visible for currently listed officers)
Fill in the on-screen prompts
Click the purple submit button
If your re-registration form is pending it means one or more of the people listed as officers, members, or advisors have not confirmed their role in the organization via Duke Groups. They should have received an email from mailer@campusgroups.com. To check the status of a group’s registration form, the person who submitted it* should:
Click the ‘My Surveys/Forms’ tab on the Duke Groups left navigation menu
Find the ‘Annual Registration (2024-2025) for your group
Please review information provided in this linked document for potential funding opportunities for RSOs. Always double check information with the respective department or oversight body for the funding. Just because these opportunities are listed here, does not guarantee that your organization will receive funding from them.
Attention all Duke student org leaders – the Alumni-Student Connections Grant is now live! Apply for up to $1000 help your group connect with Duke alumni!
Alumni Engagement and Development at Duke is excited to announce our Alumni-Student Connections Grant. Preference will be given to activities, events, or projects that:  Bring alumni back to campus or connect alumni directly with campus/students in a specific way, inspire school spirit, and/or events or activities that encourage collaboration amongst different groups on campus. We will accept applications on a rolling basis (at least three weeks in advance of your event) and accept multiple applications from the same group, given that the total requested amount follows the $1000 per group per semestercap.
