Hi everyone!
Welcome to the very first edition of SSMU Snapshots - your weekly roundup of SSMU news, announcements, and events. We’ll be here each week to keep you in the loop and help you stay connected with the community! Here’s what’s coming up this week and beyond:
📣 Announcements
Committees
Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in joining a committee! If you applied to be a member, we’ll be in touch soon.
Still interested in joining a committee? A new Research Committee has been proposed! This group will organize biweekly seminars and reading groups that connect undergrads with Duke faculty, industry researchers, and graduate students to explore modern statistics theory and applications beyond medicine.
Committees are a fantastic way to shape initiatives, build leadership skills, and collaborate with peers.
Fill out this
form to let us know if you’d like to be part of the Research Committee!

Stats Chats 🥐
Take a break and join us for snacks, tea, coffee, and good conversation! Stats Chats is a casual monthly gathering where students, faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Statistics Department can connect outside of class. Everyone in the community is welcome!
This first Stats Chats (10/1) will just feature students, but for future events, we aim to connect undergraduates, faculty, staff, and graduate students in the department, so stay tuned!
