Kitab Connect is a weekly Quran study group that meets every Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The first 30 minutes are dedicated to reading the Quran in Arabic, followed by an hour of group discussion inspired by the reading. Participants include students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members, creating a rich and diverse environment for learning. Open to all regardless of Arabic reading ability, Kitab Connect encourages participants to read, listen, or simply share. The discussions are guided by what participants are moved to explore that evening, making each session unique and engaging. This casual, inclusive gathering intentionally creates a sense of comfort and openness, recognizing that everyone has different experiences with Islam, Muslims, and the Quran.
Objectives:
1. Cultivate a meaningful relationship with the Quran, both individually and as a community.
2. Build an open and inviting environment where questions are encouraged and diverse perspectives are valued.
The Fajr Breakfast Club meets every Wednesday morning just before sunrise for the first prayer of the day, Fajr. This gathering blends spiritual practice and social connection as students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members come together in the quiet beauty of the early morning. After prayer, everyone shares a home-cooked, nutritious breakfast prepared by the Chaplain, creating a warm and welcoming environment where meaningful conversations flow naturally. The Chaplain also picks up students from across campus in a Duke van, ensuring that everyone who wants to be part of this spiritual and social community can join. Hosted in the CML office, the Fajr Breakfast Club offers a chance to start the day rooted in faith, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
Objectives:
1. Encourage students to gather for spiritual reflection and prayer.
2. Strengthen community bonds and belonging across campus.
Join us for Jumu'ah prayer at Duke University, where nearly 100 community members gather for spiritual inspiration. Experience a sense of peace and community during the service, followed by food and fellowship. Come together with fellow Muslims and friends for a meaningful Friday prayer experience.
Muslim Student Association (MSA) Incoming freshmen, join us Friday, September 5th, at 6:00 pm at the CML for our Freshmen Kickoff! We will be sharing what the MSA at Duke looks like while eating a delicious halal dinner together.
