Exec Member's Bios
Jocelyn is a Junior from McHenry, Illinois, majoring in Biology and Evolutionary Anthropology and minoring in Music. She is involved in reproductive oncology research, neurology research, Duke University Wind Symphony, and serves as a volunteer at the Duke Lemur Center. During her free time, she enjoys catching up on her favorite shows and taking cycling classes.
Jennifer is a senior from Northern Virginia, majoring in Neuroscience. Outside of MAPS, she’s involved with Pompe Disease research, Spine Surgery research, Duke’s Marching Band, and the Penny Pilgrim George Women’s Leadership Initiative.
Carlos is a Junior from McHenry, Illinois, pursuing a Program II degree in Cognitive Musicology. He is involved in neurology research, is a member of the Duke Symphony and Duke Wind Symphony, and is a part of the 2023 FlexMed cohort at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Morayo is a Junior majoring in Neuroscience from Fredericksburg, VA. She is involved with Duke MAPS, Bass Connections Student Advisory Board, a Global Fellow, and a Cardea Fellow. She also serves as a hospital volunteer for Lennox Baker Children's Hospital, writing consultant for the Thompson Writing Studio, and fitness counselor for Duke Recreation and Fitness. In her free time, she enjoys watching basketball, being physically active, and trying out a new recipe.
Cristal is a Junior majoring in Neuroscience from Clinton, North Carolina. She is involved with Duke MAPS, QuestBridge, and the Help Desk at the Emergency Department. In her free time, she enjoys being physically active.
Yvonne is a senior from the Bronx, New York, majoring in African and African American Studies and minoring in History. She is a Math 105 TA, President of Nakisai African Dance Ensemble, and Co-Healthcare Committee Chair for Duke NAACP. She is also a mentor with Duke LIFE and Duke Africa. She recently picked up blogging for the Duke Med Ethics Journal. Outside of school, Yvonne does hair and binge-watches Jane the Virgin.
Demi is a sophomore from Charlotte, North Carolina, majoring in biology with minors in chemistry and evolutionary anthropology. In addition to MAPS, she is a researcher in the Animal Locomotion Lab at Duke, a Cardea Fellow, and a part of the Duke University Student Dining Advisory Committee (DUSDAC). Outside of her coursework, Demi has interests in food and culinary history. In her free time, she loves to watch documentaries and spend time with friends and family.
Alejandra is a Junior from Orlando, FL, majoring in Psychology on the pre-med track with minors in Visual Arts and Computational Biology. She is a RA on East Campus serving first year students. She is an active member of the Minority Association for Premedical Students (MAPS) and Duke University's student-run musical theater group, Hoof ‘n’ Horn. This past summer, she worked as a Duke Tour Guide and an Orientation Leader for Project Arts, one of Duke’s orientation programs for incoming first-year students. In her free time, she likes to rock climb and collect playing card decks.
