Why join DSPr?
The mission of DRSPr is to establish and facilitate a structured program that introduces undergraduates, with a strong focus on those at all experience levels, to the real, intellectually driven, and novel research opportunities at Duke, widely recognized as a pre-eminent international research institution. We continue to fuel their passion throughout their undergraduate career at the university. DRSPr seeks to integrate the most critical components of a positive and meaningful research experience, and combines that with a process that allows motivated students to connect with dedicated research mentors, including but not limited to publications and individual, original international research experiences abroad. DRSPr seeks to accomplish this mission by facilitating semester-long programs for undergraduates, in which they are matched with research mentors and participate in a series of professional development seminars, culminating in a final presentation of their own research at the Duke Research Scholars Symposium. This teaches students how to conduct and guide their own research endeavors, extending beyond publications and manuscript writing.
Furthermore, DRSPr has demonstrated a long-lasting network of support for alumni of our programs. This includes ALL avenues of research, including general global health and broad health delivery, to strengthen future ethical, genuine global health leaders and Duke Research Scholars across any subject and science. Students graduate from this program knowing exactly where their intellectual interests and identity stand in research and leadership.
