Guest Speakers & Visiting Scholars

  • RSPr Speaker Series

RSPr regularly invites faculty, researchers, and professionals to engage in conversations with scholars on research, ethics, mentorship, and academic pathways. These sessions provide students with insight into diverse research careers and the broader impact of scholarly work.

Below are some of the conversations with the esteemed faculty of Duke University.

Ms. Mary Osborne

Guest Speaker — February 2026

Lecturing Fellow in Linguistics & Senior Product Manager in NLP and AI

Mary Osborne, a lecturing fellow in the Linguistics Program at Duke University and an expert at the intersection of linguistics, machine learning, and responsible AI, visited RSPr in February 2026. She discussed how computational approaches to language illuminate both human cognition and the design of interpretable, ethical artificial intelligence systems. Ms. Osborne shared insights on the ethical use of AI in research, including appropriate source collection and understanding how AI models operate. They must be used carefully in a project design.
